Lloyd Herfindahl, an internationally famous artist, who lived and painted in Southern Minnesota, won a commission to paint the symbolic mural for FarmFest 1976 in conjunction with the Bicentennial of America July 4, 1976. The FarmFest agricultural exposition was held in Lake Crystal, Minnesota. The painting is a panorama that covered the history of agriculture, from Egyptian times to the present, telling the story of agriculture, thus the title “Homage to Agriculture”.
